Korea Education Program (KEP)

KEP is a 10-day educational summer program in South Korea, which includes participation in group activities and a 4-day International Forum on WWII Military Sexual Slavery sponsored by Masan, Changwon, Jinhae Civil Assembly for Japanese Military Sexual Slaves.

2018 Conference

The 2nd International Youth Conference on the Japanese Military Sexual Slavery conference (Comfort Women) was held at the Changwon, Korea, on July 30th to August 2, 2018. 

This conference was composed of one hundred of Korean, Taiwanese, Filipino, Japanese, and United States High school and college students who were concerned about women’s sextual slavery.

Each countries’ leaders were presenting with the following titles:

Korea: The reason why we must remember the victims of the Comfort Women by Prof. Joung-Eun Lee

Japan: The Movement for Solution of Japan Military Sexual Slavery (Comfort Women) issue by Yang, Jing Ja, – Japanese Hope Seed Fund CEO. Here are a few sentences from CEO.

“Since Kim, Hak-Sun, the formal Comfort Women came out in august 1991, it became a big issues in Japanese public. The lawsuit by Kim, Hak-Sun (formal Comfort women) after total of 10 lawsuits were brought into court by, from Kampu (Shimonoseki, Japan & Busan, Korea), the Philippines, the Koreans resident in Japan, Netherland, China, to Hainan in 2001.  The 90s movement was developed mainly by these trial support movement however, all 10 cases have lost a suit, as Haian trial was rejected a appeal in May 2010, which was the final case. However, in 2000, the Women’s International Tribunal stated at the time that violence against women is a crime, and extended a from to join this movement.” 

Taiwan: Pursuing Justice that Does not stop Forever by Wang Li Wei

“The House of Amara Museum of Peace and Women’s Rights has a history of 26 years.  Since opening of the museum, the Taiwanese, foreign tourist have renewed their awareness of the issue of Comfort Women through the exhibitions and guides during the Taipe trip. Moreover, mam Japanese youths are posting on their memo cards that they want to apologize to Taiwanese grandmothers and apologize. From 2017 our museum has been with many activities. Such as history of Comfort women, in August showing film about the Comfort Women and having lecture from universities in November.”

Philippines: No to Another Generation of Comfort Women. A Challenge to the young generation by Gabriela Philippines, -Director- Rosanna Cabusao      

“We are being challenged by the lolas (Grandmothers), to continue the fight for justice, continue the call never to repeat history, NEVER to another generation of Comfort women.”

United States: Why I am working o the Comfort Women issues, because War is not an answers to conflict by Director Jong Lee:

“War is not an answer to conflict, when war breaks out women being rapped, and children becomes orphans.”

U.S.: The Rights and Status of Women in Islam: Addressing Common Misconceptions by Eptisam Lambu:    Ms. Lambu’s paper indicated that Western people are confused with the Muslim cultural and Muslim religion:

“Many confuse culture with religion and use the two interchangeably. There are leaders in Muslim majority countries that deny equal treatment of women order to protect their power.   However, Qur’an: (3:195) I never fail to reward any worker among you for any work you, be your male or female-you are equal to on another”       1,400 years ago, Islam gave women more rights and western women have gained in the last century. And she mentioned five(5) of those many rights.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   

2019 Conference

The 3rd International Youth Conference on the Japanese Military Sexual slavery conference, known as Comfort Women, was held at the Changwon, Korea with the college students from Korea, Taiwan, the Philippines, Japan, and the United States, on July 18, to July 21, 2019.

Apology to the German Girls” Government Reparation for Norwegian Women Raped by Nazi Soldiers to Produce Aryan Children by Nhan Pham. Here is excerpt from Mr. Pham’s paper:

“During WWII, Norway was under Nazi occupation. Because of the proximity of Norway to Germany, the Nazi government considered Norwegian women to be racially superior to help produce “Aryan children” In 1930 and 194, Norwegian young women were recruited to be forcefully impregnated by German soldiers, ten put into special homes to make sure that they produce healthy babies.” 

After 70 years, finally the German government apologized and admitted the inhumane way of treatments toward the mother and children of Nazi’s soldier.

” In 2016, the Korean, and Chinese governments, in cooperation with many civic organizations around the world have filed 2,744 cases related to “Comfort women” in UNESCO’s Memory of the World register. Japan, which was the losing the invading nation during WWII, informed UNESCO authorities of their refusal to pay their annual contribution which accounts for 11% of UNESECO funding. Because of Japan claimed that the inclusion of the historical records documenting Japanese military’s comfort women and forced labor and other sensitive matters pertaining to events and cultural heritage should be postponed, as it causes severe conflicts wit neighboring countries. UNESECO eventually vowed to Japan’s pressure, which resulted in a bad precedent set by international organization that is supposed to stand for fairness. Instead, it was revealed that it can be politically and economically influenced by one country.”
